If you’re planning your little girl’s first birthday photo session, I know how you’re probably feeling. You’ve done all kinds of research to pick the perfect photographer, you’ve pinned a billion ideas for the theme on your Pinterest board, and now you’re finally purchasing all the pieces to make this milestone moment actually happen!

Are you trembling with excitement? I hope so! Shaking a little with trepidation? I get it. You’ve been planning this event since she had her newborn session at just a few days old. You’ve changed her into literally hundreds of outfits since then, and this is important. This photo will be hanging in your family gallery wall forever. We only get one shot at this first birthday thing, so you want it to happen just as you envision it. I get it! That’s how I started Mama Peacock Baby Owl, after all - by crafting all the pieces of my daughter’s first birthday photo session.

I’m happy that, after years of taming tulle and wrangling babies for the sweetest photos, I can share my expertise with you. These keepsake photos will only get sweeter as she gets older and changes into a girl who changes each time you blink your eye. Trust me on that one, too.

The most often asked question by my customers is what length tutu they should order for a first birthday. And my answer is always, “It depends.” See, there are a few different looks that you might be going for, and my job is to help you bring that perfect little set up into reality.

Maybe you love the short and sassy look of a full tutu that sticks straight out.

Maybe you want to evoke a more classic ballerina style, but with oodles of layers of tulle, like this next look.

Or maybe an elegant floor length tutu that evokes a princess ball gown is what you really want.

With the help of some adorable little models, I’ve created these direct comparisons for you to see what these tutu options might look like on your little one. That way you can really choose what you’ve been dreaming up in your imagination for so long.

Those pictures are really wonderful. I wish I had a daughter in where I can dress with. This is the exciting part of having a daughter, you can dress them to whatever you wanted. You can tie their hairs on to whatever style you want and make your daughter fashionable. Girls too are much sweeter than boys which I adore the most. I wish that it is not too late for me to have a baby girl. Thank you so much for sharing these cute baby pictures.
